A website that works for your business, not just one that looks good.

I deliver website development services in WordPress and Webflow sites for small and medium businesses that need more than a template but less than an agency. Built to be found, tracked and grown from day one.

Whether the site is live or not started, the problems usually start after launch.

Most small business websites get built once and then quietly underperform. Not because the design is wrong but because nobody thought beyond the launch. No tracking, no SEO foundations, no way to know if it’s actually working.

You’ve outgrown your current platform

You started on Wix, Squarespace or a basic template because it was quick and cheap. It worked at the time. Now the business has grown and the site is holding you back — limited functionality, poor SEO control and no real path forward without starting again.

Your developer built what you asked for

The site looks fine. But your developer isn’t the person to ask about tracking, GEO, SEO structure or what happens when a lead fills in the form. They built what they were briefed and the rest is your problem.

An agency is out of your budget

You know what a good website should do. You’ve spoken to agencies and the numbers don’t make sense for a business your size. You need someone who thinks like an agency but works like a person.

What you need is someone who builds the site and understands everything that needs to work around it.

More than just website development

Tracking and analytics

Your site should tell you who’s visiting, what they’re doing and where you’re losing them. I implement event tracking and analytics from day one — GA4, GTM, Amplitude, Adobe Analytics or whatever your stack requires — so you have data you can actually make decisions from.

SEO and GEO foundations

A site that can’t be found isn’t worth building. I build with technical SEO and GEO in mind from the start — site structure, metadata, structured data, page speed and crawlability. The foundations that determine whether search engines and AI models surface your content.

Reporting

I connect your site data to reporting your team will actually use. Looker Studio dashboards for GA4-based setups, or connected to your existing business tools where they’re already in place.

Automations

The site should do work after someone leaves it. I set up email nurture sequences for new leads and abandon cart flows for ecommerce clients — either through FluentCRM or connected to the tools your business already uses.

Personalisation

A single static site leaves value on the table. I can build logged-in account experiences and dynamic landing pages that match content to the campaign or search term that brought someone to the site — giving your marketing activity a better surface to land on.

Ecommerce

No matter if it’s a physical product, a subscription or a one-off digital download, I have the ecommerce optimisation experience to deliver a best-in-class experience and set it up to experiment for further enhancements in the future.

How I build

WordPress or Webflow

I build in WordPress for most projects — it gives clients full content control, a mature plugin ecosystem and no ongoing platform fees. For projects that suit a more visual build, Webflow is an option. If the complexity goes beyond what either platform handles well, I’ll tell you upfront rather than take on something I can’t deliver properly.

Design — yours or mine

If you’ve already designed something in Lovable, v0, Pencil, Stitch, Figma or with a designer, I can take that and build it properly in WordPress. If you’re starting from scratch, I can generate the design using AI tools and refine it with you before a line of code is written.

Accessibility and performance

Before build starts I review any supplied design for accessibility and performance issues. Clean semantic HTML, fast load times and a best practice accessibility check are part of every build — not an optional extra.

Ecommerce with WooCommerce

For clients selling online, I build on WooCommerce. Product catalogues, checkout flows, payment gateway integration and abandon cart automations. Ecommerce builds follow the same process as standard builds with additional time scoped for the commerce layer.

Why this works as a fractional website development engagement

The choice for most small and medium businesses comes down to three options. A DIY platform that’s quick to set up but limits what the business can do as it grows. A cheap freelancer who builds what they’re told and hands it over. Or an agency that brings the full picture but charges accordingly.

A fractional website development engagement sits in a different place. You get someone who thinks across the full digital stack — build, tracking, SEO foundations, reporting and automations — without the agency overhead or the handover-and-disappear model of a one-off freelancer.

The other difference is that everything is handed over cleanly. You own the site, you can manage the content and you’re not dependent on me to make basic changes. If you want ongoing support, I offer a retainer. If you don’t, you’re set up to run independently.

What a fractional website development engagement looks like

Week 1 Design and content review — I review your design for accessibility, usability and component efficiency alongside a review of your existing content for SEO structure and clarity. I flag issues across both and we agree what to carry into the build.
Week 2+ Build — I build in WordPress to the agreed design. Duration depends on the size of the site and complexity of functionality required. Clean, semantic HTML, fast load times and content structured for SEO from day one.
1 week post-build Tracking and SEO — Analytics and event tracking implemented and verified. On-page SEO, metadata, structured data and site performance reviewed and addressed.
1 week Testing — Cross-browser and UAT testing across the latest browser versions and one version back. Issues identified and resolved before anything goes to client review.
Final week Review and launch — You review the site before anything goes live. Feedback addressed, tracking verified, content ready. Site launched and handed over with documentation covering how to manage content and maintain the site. Optional retainer for ongoing development and support.

“Storm always delivers on both these fronts, with excellent value thrown in.”

Who this is for

You’re a small or medium business owner or marketing manager who needs professional website development services but an agency is out of budget or out of proportion to what you actually need. You’ve either outgrown your current platform, been burned by a developer who built exactly what you asked for and nothing more, or you’re starting fresh and want to do it properly from day one.

You want someone who understands that a website is a business tool, not just a design deliverable. Someone who thinks about how people will find it, how you’ll measure what it’s doing and how your team will manage it after launch without calling a developer every time something needs changing.

You’re not looking for the cheapest option. You’re looking for the right one.

FAQ

Common questions

The easiest way is to book a call using the link on this page. Tell me what you need and I’ll tell you straight whether I can help. If it’s a fit, I’ll turn around a plain-language scope within a few days.

Flexibly. I can work remotely or on-site at your office on agreed days — up to two days a week depending on the engagement. We agree the arrangement upfront and it can flex as the work develops.

I work on a day rate or fixed project price depending on the scope. Payment terms are 14 days.

Most specialists go deep in one area. I work across the intersection of user experience, technology and business strategy. That means I can understand the full shape of a problem and connect the pieces rather than just solving my corner of it. In a world where AI can do a lot of jobs, the person who can bring multiple parts of the problem together is more useful than someone who only knows one piece of the puzzle.

Eighteen years across PHP, JavaScript, CSS, HTML and WordPress. I’ve built everything from simple brochure sites to ecommerce builds with custom WooCommerce configurations. I don’t just build what I’m given — I review designs for accessibility, usability and SEO gaps before I start and fold those improvements into the build.

Either works. The best results come from clients writing their own content — you know your business better than I do — and me reviewing it for SEO structure and clarity before it goes into the build. If you need help writing it, I can support that as part of the scope.

I can work with your existing hosting setup. My preference for new builds is Kinsta — it’s fast, reliable and well-suited to WordPress. Whatever hosting you use, you own and manage it directly. I don’t sit between you and your hosting provider.

Every build includes one month of hyper-care support for genuine bugs — things that aren’t working as they should. This doesn’t cover new feature requests or content changes. After that, ongoing maintenance and development support is available on a retainer.

If we identify that your requirements exceed what either platform can handle well, what happens next depends on where we are in the process. If it comes up before design starts, we can end the engagement cleanly. If it emerges during design or build due to scope changes, I’ll produce a full technical brief you can take to another developer and only charge for the work completed to that point.

Everything shared with me is treated as confidential. Standard confidentiality terms are part of every engagement and I can work within your organisation’s existing NDA or data handling policies if required.

Yes. For engagements where on-site presence adds value I can work from your office on agreed days, up to two days a week. Location and schedule are agreed as part of the scope.

Usually within one week of an agreed engagement. Get in touch early if you have something coming up and I’ll let you know availability.

I use AI to review code, generate initial designs and support content research. Your data is never shared in a way that trains models. If your organisation works with sensitive data I can work without AI entirely or in line with your existing company policies.

Meet Storm Jarvie

I genuinely believe the best decisions start with admitting what you don’t know yet. Not as a methodology. Just as a way of working. It keeps the work honest and it tends to produce better outcomes than starting with the answer and working backwards. That’s the thread running through everything I do.
